Stop Elder Abuse

May 23, 2013
Stop Elder Abuse

Every year hundreds of thousands of elderly people are abused, exploited, neglected, or abandoned. The elderly are especially vulnerable to abuse due to reduced physical and mental capabilities that are part of the normal aging process. In many cases the elderly victim is completely dependent on others to meet their basic needs.

It is important for us to remember that abusers can be men or women, "friends" or family members, and even, unfortunately, an elderly parent's own adult children. Please take some time to watch this short video on elder abuse and help us educate people on the warning signs of elder abuse.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local police. If you suspect elder abuse in Pennsylvania call 1-800-490-8505.

Visit the PA Department of Aging for more information. Comforting Home Care is a mandatory reporting agency. All of our Caregivers are trained to recognize and are obligated to report elder abuse.
